Dane Broome

August 6, 1990 — January 25, 2024

Dane M. Broome, age 33, passed away Thursday morning, January 25, 2024, at his home in Batesville, MS.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 29, 2024, at the Batesville First Methodist Church with the interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, MS. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:30-8:30 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home.

Dane was born on August 6, 1990 to Bartley Little Broome and Christy Lee Goodnite Broome in Memphis, TN. He was a 2009 graduate of South Panola High School, where he excelled in school and baseball. He began his baseball journey with T-Ball and played all the way through high school. He was a part of the 7-year-old and 9-year-old baseball teams that won the state championship. Dane was very involved in his high school days at South Panola. He was a member of the Risque Business Drama Team, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the leadership class. He enjoyed many years in the Boy Scouts, receiving the highest rank of Eagle Scout along with the high honor of being in the Order of the Arrow.  He also served 3 years with Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of America and was the Hoby Youth Leadership delegate. Everyone at school loved being around Dane, being his friend was a true joy. He was crowned Prom Prince his Junior year and the Prom King his senior year, which truly showed the love everyone had for his fun spirit and all the friends he shared many memories with. 

After high school, he attended Mississippi State University and Northwest MS Community College. Dane worked for United Parcel Service and then went on to work for Frontier Fencing in Grenada. He was a member of the former First United Methodist Church and recently a member of the Providence Baptist Church in Grenada, where he was baptized. Dane was everyone’s friend and his kindness to everyone will never be forgotten.

The family Dane leaves behind includes his son, Thomas Lowe Broome, and his step-daughter Denley Elizabeth Bright and their mother, Beth Mann Bright all of Grenada, MS; his parents, Bart and Christy Broome of Batesville, MS; his maternal grandmother, Carolyn Goodnite of Batesville, MS; and his paternal grandmother, Barbara Broome of Batesville, MS.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Brett Broome; his maternal grandfather, Talmadge Goodnite; and his paternal grandfather, Arthur V. “Art” Broome. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dane’s name can be made to the Living Free Ministries, P.O. Box 224, Corinth, MS 38835 or to the Home of Grace, P.O. Box 5009, Vancleave, MS 39565.
