W.D. Bolen

W.D. “JR” Bolen, Jr. age 80, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was the widower of Geraldine "Jerri" Bolen.

A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2020 at Bethel Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Darby officiating.

W.D. was born on November 11, 1939 to the late Walter Dewey, Sr. and Lois Jenkins Bolen of Friars Point, MS. He ran several businesses along with his brothers, to include Bolen Trucking, commercial fishing, produce sells, and used car sells. He was an avid fisherman, loved to garden and loved the outdoors. He also enjoyed hunting. W.D. also always had a good story to tell when you saw him. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Survivors include his brother, James L. Bolen of Coffeeville, MS; his sisters, Virginia Ann Bolen Irby of Moon Lake, MS, Sue Bolen Yount (John) of Friars Point, MS, Kathy Bolen Gordon (Carl) of Jonesboro, AR; and several nieces and nephews as wells as great nieces and nephews, whom he adored.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine “Jerri” Kendall Bolen of Oxford, MS; one brother, Jerry Bolen of Marks, MS; and one infant sister, Brenda Bolen.
