Virginia S. Howell

Virginia S. Howell, age 82, passed away early this morning, August 30, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 pm. on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS.

Virginia was born January 8, 1937 to the late Samuel Carlton Smith and Frances Lillian Haddox Smith in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During her lifetime she was a homemaker and a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Oakland, MS. Virginia had a green thumb and loved to work in her yard and garden. She also enjoyed to paint in her spare time.

She is survived by her children, Vicky Thedford of Hazelhurst, MS, Sharon McCoy (Sylvester) of Columbus, MS, Marcia Newell (Malcolm) of Live Oak, FL, and William Sabinson (Christie) of Shuqualak, MS; 7 grandchildren, Joshua William Sabinson, Johnathan Carlton Sabinson, Kristopher Parrish, Travis Scott Parrish, Kelly Lawrence, Joyce Ann Chain, and Julian Thomas Crocker; and 22 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Laten Howell, and one brother, Claire Carlton Smith.
