Vera Frances Buck

Vera Frances Buck, age 89, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at her home near Batesville, MS.

Vera was born on June 19, 1932 to the late Otis Bills and Lillian Glaze Bills in Tennessee. She was a homemaker throughout her lifetime. She was a simple lady, a loving mother and grandmother. Vera was of Christian Faith and attended Highland Heights Baptist Church while growing up in the Memphis, TN area.

The family left behind to cherish her memory includes her daughter, Barbara Black (Jearl) of Batesville, MS; her three sons, Charles Buck of Shelby Township, MI, Gary Buck of White, GA, and Tom Buck of Sasebo, Japan; two sisters, Carolyn Bills Cloyes and Jeannie Bills Bryd; three brothers, Wayne Bills, Ray Bills, and Johnny Bills; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Robert Buck, one daughter, Nancy Morrow; and one brother, James Bills.

Vera was always known to be the neighborhood “mom” wherever the family lived. A very loving and welcoming person, she always made any visitor comfortable and they felt as if they were family. Throughout the years she lived in many places between New Jersey, Michigan and even a couple of years overseas in Tehran, Iran. Even overseas she was a neighborhood “mom”. Always attentive to her children’s needs she was a devout fan of any sports or extra curricular activities any of her 5 children might be a part of.

A private inurnment will be held at the West Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery at a later date.
