Tommye Dean Benson

Tommye Dean Benson, 90, of Courtland, MS, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Azalea Commons of Batesville, MS.

The family will receive friends Saturday December 17, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral home until the memorial service begins at 2:30 p.m. at Antioch cemetery.

 Tommye was born October 22, 1932 in Batesville, MS to the late Alonzo and Myrtle Burns. Tommye worked at Houston drug store as a teen.  She was a homemaker until her children went to school, and then she enjoyed working for the public at Big Star, Hancock’s Fabric, and Farm Bureau. She always enjoyed tending to her garden, flowers, and birds. Tommye was an outstanding cook that loved serving others and taking care of her family. 

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Benson, her parents, two sisters, Virginia Campbell, Bobbye Lou Williams, and a grandson, Joseph Sullivan.

 Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Kathy Wray (Gary) of Courtland, MS, Connie Warren (Rickey) of Shreveport, LA, and Gail Dalrymple of Aberdeen, MS; five grandchildren, Nick Sullivan (Mikki), Sarah Beth Bright (Jamie), Callan Knowles (Courtney), Addison Dalrymple, and Chandler Warren (Amy), and seven great-grandchildren, Charlie, Cameron, and Cade Sullivan, Graylee Gentry, Rylee and Brave Bright, and Calli Mae Knowles, and sister Bettye Jo Randolph.
