Tommie L. Joiner, age 93, passed away Sunday evening, November 25, 2018, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford, MS. Mr. Joiner was the husband of Fay Wilson Joiner.
Funeral services for Mr. Joiner will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon prior to the service. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery with Military Honors. Rev. Don Howie will officiate.
Tommie was born January 25, 1925 to the late Jake A. Joiner and Audrey Mae Foster Joiner in Sardis, MS. Tommie married Fay Wilson 61 years ago, they had 4 children. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and Korea. Tommie went on to serve with the MS National Guard, retiring after 41 years as a 1st Sgt. Tommie worked as a Maintenance Foreman for the U.S. Corp of Engineers for 35 years before retiring with the Corp. Tommie was a member of the Lions Club and VFW. He was also a member of BlackJack Presbyterian Church.
The family he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Fay Wilson Joiner of Batesville; daughter, Lynn Joiner Odom of Batesville; daughter-in-law, Gloria Joiner of Benton; sister, Robbie Ann Trotter of Batesville; 4 grandchildren, Will Odom (Erin), Christy Odom Burnett (Chris), Christy Joiner Johnston (Richard), Corey Joiner (Kim); and 8 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Tommie is preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Joiner; two sons, Danny Joiner and Tommie Lynn Joiner; one brother and 5 sisters.
