Steven Lee "Steve" Brown, age 72, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. 

Funeral services for Steve will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 at Wells Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service Saturday at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville.

Steve was born April 14, 1950, one of two sons to the late Lee Arthur Brown and Nellie Dean Davis Brown in Coldwater, MS. Steve spent his early years in Sardis until his family moved to Waverly, TN where he graduated from high school. He attended Northwest Junior College in Senatobia and Memphis State University.

Steve loved all music genres and could play anything he heard. His favorite was the rock music he grew up on. He played guitar from a young age and he excelled at it, playing in bands throughout his life. In high school, he played with The Traders and Third Day Chase. When Steve got to Northwest Jr. College he formed life-long friendships with the musicians he would play with for the rest of his life. Some of the later bands were Reunion, Steve Brown Band and Light Horse Harry.

He was a great "girl dad" to Jennifer and Hillary. He didn't miss a dance recital or school program. In the last five years he became DiDi and adored his grand daughters. He enjoyed vacations and going to the beach. He took many trips when he worked at Malone & Hyde and made memories with some wonderful friends. He later went to work at Metro Foods and quickly became a valued employee and friend in this family owned company. The Mattingly family remained close until the end of his life. Steve was a member of Antioch Church of Christ in Coldwater.

The loving family Steve leaves behind to cherish his loving memory includes his wife of 38 years, Roxanne Broome Brown of Coldwater; children, Jennifer Brown Minor (Johnny) of Senatobia, Hillary Brown White (Steven) of West Point; brother, Paul Brown (Amy) of Dickson, TN.; two precious grandchildren, Meri Brett White and Harper Louise White
