Steve Warren Sanders, 51, of Oakland, MS, entered Heaven’s pearly gates on November 22, 2023.

A memorial service for Steve will be held Saturday December 2, 2023 at 2pm in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home.

Born March 19, 1972, in Charleston, MS, Steve was the son of the late Millard Filmore Sanders and Bonnie Gail Alexander. A 1990 graduate of Charleston High School, Steve went on to continue his education at Delta State University where he earned his BS in Biology in 1994. He worked at the State Crime Lab as a Drug Analyst for 17 years. On August 13, 1993, he married the love of his life, April Sanders, and together they were blessed with two wonderful sons. Steve had a five year battle with cancer and fought through numerous health issues until the end. Through the good times and the bad, he never questioned or faltered in his faith in God. He praised God no matter what. Steve’s smile and sense of humor were infectious. Many times, he would be getting up hay and/or tending cows, fixing fences, or piddling around the house. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved to cook and grill. He was a handyman and could figure out a way to fix anything that needed fixing. He raised his two boys to have moral values and be gentlemen. He was and is a blessing to his family, and they will cherish his memory in their hearts forever.

Steve was preceded in death by his late father, Millard Filmore Sanders and his late mother, Bonnie Gail Alexander.

The family he leaves includes his wife, April Sanders; two sons, Bradley Sanders (Kristina), of Monette, AR and Colson Sanders, of Oakland, MS; one brother, Randy Sanders (Ciji), of Oakland, MS; two grandchildren, Emerson Sanders and Ella Sanders; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
