Steve "Sonny" Jones

Steve "Sonny" Jones passed away on December 14, 2024, in Oxford, Mississippi, at the age of 82. Born on January 30, 1942, in Marks, Mississippi, he lived a life rich in hard work, family devotion, and a deep love for the land.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 19, 2024, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until service time on Thursday. There will be no committal services but the interment will follow at Longtown Cemetery near Crenshaw, MS.

Steve was a cherished retired farmer who dedicated countless hours to nurturing the crops. He had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of rural life, often found working on his old tractors and equipment, imbuing those moments with a sense of nostalgia and satisfaction. His passion extended beyond the farm; he took great pleasure in listening to country music, which echoed the stories of his life's journey and provided solace during quieter moments.

Steve is remembered for his steadfast love and commitment to his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 62 years, Billie Parrish Jones of Crenshaw, Mississippi, and their cherished daughter, Elizabeth Jones, also of Crenshaw. He is also survived by his sister, Debra Mayo of Byhalia, Mississippi.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Stephen C. and Mattie Lee Bruce Jones, as well as his beloved siblings: Linda Carol Jones, Patricia Winters, and Robert Allen Jones. Each of them played a significant role in shaping the man Steve became, and he carried their memories with him throughout his life.

Steve's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and unwavering dedication—a true testament to a life well-lived.
