Robert Earl Sims

Robert Earl Sims, age 73, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford surrounded by his beloved family. He shared 51 and a half glorious years with his wife, Zelma Sims.

Funeral services for Robert will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2019 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 2:30. Interment will follow the service at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Batesville. Rev. Keith Burney will officiate.

Robert was born to Adrian and John Wesley Sims in Batesville, MS. He was a Vietnam War Veteran, and faithfully served his country. He devoted his life to working and caring for his loved ones. He was often referred to as "Pop, Papaw, Dad and Uncle Robert" by his family and as well as the ones that loved him over the years.

Along with his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Joe Sims; his daughter, Michelle Sims Reid; his aunt, Bobbie Windell; his uncles, Tiger and Joe Crawley; and two nephews, John T. Gullette and Jeremy Baxter.

Robert's memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Zelma Sims of Water Valley, MS; his son, Robert Stacy Sims and wife Pam of Gainesville, GA; one brother, J.B. (James) Sims and his family of Water Valley, MS; 5 grandchildren, Steven Sims (Kelly), John W. Sims and Zack Sims all of Gainesville, GA, Caitlin Reid and Corey Reid both of Water Valley, MS; 7 great grandchildren, Saralyn Sims, Makayla Sims, Ainsley Sims, Emmie-Lou Sims, Rivers C. Reid, Emorie-Kate Reid, and Aubrey Sims; and a multitude of extended family and life long friends.

The family would like to thank everyone for the calls, visits, and prayers.
