Robert Harold McLean Farmer, age 77, passed away at his home in Water Valley, MS on Saturday, July 15, 2017. At this time, they are no services scheduled, as the family will have a memorial service at a later date.Robert was born October 10, 1939 in Boyle, MS to the late Woodrow Wilson and Gracie Odell Avant Farmer. After 30 plus years of service, he retired from Chicago as a bus driver. During his tenure, Robert was one of just a few individuals who were honored to be enshrined into the Million Mile Club. This award is given to safe drivers who travel over a million miles without a single accident. Robert honorably served our country in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Anchor Baptist Church near Water Valley, MS. He was an amateur radio operator, who also enjoyed model airplanes, fishing and all animals. Robert had a great respect for nature, but most of all, he had a gentle spirit and a giving heart.Robert's memory will be cherished by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Dora Chance Farmer of Water Valley, MS; daughter, Jennifer Lynn VanDeWeide of Cedar Lake, IN; son, Robert Joseph "Marty" Farmer of Water Valley, MS; step-daughter, Tammy Denis Harvey of Scottsboro, AL; sister, Verdie Ruth Schaefer of Harvey, IL; brother, Alvie Odell Farmer of Florida; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.other than Robert's parent, he was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Deborah Jeanette Johnson and step-son, Ricky Wayne Dempsey.
