Robert Vinson Adcock, Sr.

Mr. Robert Vinson Adcock, Sr., age 67, passed on March 9, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday morning, March 11, 2020, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Rev. Gary Roberson and Rev. Tim McMillen will officiate.

Robert was born June 1, 1952 to the late Winford Lee Adcock, Sr. and Jewel Stephens Adcock in Kosciusko. Robert retired from Batesville Casket after 28 years of employment. Robert was known in the community as a master woodworker. There are many pieces that he has made over the years that are in the homes of the residents of Panola County and beyond. He was a faithful member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Robert also enjoyed hunting, fishing and sitting on his porch enjoying retirement. He enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and would often take photos of them that will be in the family’s memory forever.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two brothers, Winford Lee Adcock, Jr. and Donald Adcock.

The family he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Mary Ruth Lewallen Adcock of Batesville; two children, Robert V. “Vince” Adcock, Jr. (Mamie), and Dawne Michelle “Shelley” Adcock Goodwin (Ronnie) both of Batesville; one sister, Pamela Sue Adcock Vowell (Dusty) of Carthage; five grandchildren who he adored, Lexi Shriner (Corey), Lee Parker Adcock, Will Adcock, Austin Goodwin and Ashton Goodwin; three great grandchildren, Robert, Reid, and Rhett Shriner.
