Ricky C. Smith, Sr.

Ricky C. Smith, Sr., age 69, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at his home in Pope, MS.Funeral services for Ricky will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville MS with visitation being held at 2:00 prior to the service. Ricky was born September 22, 1947 in Pope, MS to the late Edward Vassar and Cornelia James Smith. He was a truck driver and member of Pope Baptist Church. Ricky honorably served in the U.S. Navy. He had a special bond with his dog "Flash" and enjoyed visiting with friends.Ricky is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Smith Bartlett of Jacksonville, NC; two sons, Ricky C. Smith, Jr. of Courtland, MS, Joseph E. Smith of Pope, MS; brother, Randy K. Smith of Harmontown, MS; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Besides his parents, Ricky was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Smith.
