Dr. Percie Lee Lamar, III, age 78, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 30, 2020 at Methodist Hospital in Olive Branch, MS. Percie Lee was born in Lambert, MS, on October 3, 1941. His parents were Kathryn Savage Lamar and Percie Lee Lamar, Jr. His grandparents were Mr. Van Savage and his wife Eva and Mr. Percie Lee Lamar, Sr. and his wife Florence.

He grew up in Lambert and attended Lambert Elementary, Junior High, and High School. After graduating from LHS, Percie Lee attended Texas A&M and received his Undergraduate Degree in "Chemistry." After that, he attended college at Mississippi State University where he received his Graduate Degree in "Food Science." Following that, he returned to Lambert High School and taught high school Chemistry along with other Science courses. He returned to Texas A&M after teaching and earned his Doctorate Degree in "Food Technology." Dr. Lamar worked for several companies during his life, some of which were Frito Lay, Tom's, and Flavorite. He created new flavors and new food products with all companies for which he worked. One of his delicious inventive products was "FunYuns," the delicious chips from Frito Lay!

Family was always very important and meaningful to Percie Lee. His love and devotion to his wife, Caroline, and his daughter, Emily, was the most important thing in his life! Family gatherings with cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, nieces and nephews, and all other family members meant so much to him that he never missed those gatherings! Those kinfolks were all SO close to him as well as they are to each other!

When Percie Lee, Caroline, and Emily moved to Olive Branch, they became members of Olive Branch's St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. They were quite fond of this wonderful Christian church!

Percie Lee's Survivors include his wife, Caroline Bell Lamar; his daughter, Emily Lamar; his two sisters Evan Parks (Enoch), and Carolyn Dancy (Chris); and many, many Lamar and Savage cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Savage Lamar; by his father, Percie Lee Lamar, Jr.; and by his brother, Glenn Lucas Lamar.

Funeral Services arrangements will be announced at a later date.
