Peggy Haley, age 86, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the Oxford Health and Rehabilitation Center in Oxford, MS. 

The funeral service will be held Saturday August 5, 2023 at 12pm in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will take place in Pemiscot Memorial Gardens in Caruthersville, MO at a later date.

Peggy was born October 10, 1936 in Caruthersville, MO. She was a retired teacher with the State of Mississippi. Peggy will be remembered as a tremendous cook, known for her big southern meals. She was very hospitable and loved to host family events at her home. She was an active member of Harmontown Baptist Church where she enjoyed participating in church activities, including having coffee parties at her home and playing cards with the church ladies. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be missed dearly.

Peggy was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Stubbs, Jr and her second husband, Sonny Haley, two sons, Robert H. Stubbs, III and James Verland Stubbs, and two sisters, Lucy and Betty. 

Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Stubbs, of Oxford, MS, three grandchildren, Alison Stubbs, Andrew Stubbs, and Ethan Stubbs, and five great-grandchildren, Kane, Belle, Yazmin, Tre, and Bree.
