Paulette Norman

Lucy Paulette Norman, age 82, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023.  

A celebration of Paulette’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Batesville Presbyterian Church.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 am at Batesville Presbyterian Church.  

Paulette was born on May 23, 1941 to the late Paul Edgar Goree and Lucile Thomas Goree Monk in Curtis, MS.  After graduation from Canton High School, she attended Mississippi College and Mississippi State College for Women.  Paulette retired from Tallahatchie Valley Electric Power Association after serving as a secretary for the general manager.  Paulette was an active member of Batesville Presbyterian Church where she loved to attend Bible study and fellowship with church family and friends. Paulette served the community as a volunteer at the Panola County food pantry.  She was an avid college sports fan and especially enjoyed college football and watching her favorite Mississippi State University Bulldogs .  Paulette loved bird watching, container gardening, reading, and working puzzles. Her 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren gave her greatest joy throughout her retirement years.  She was the happiest watching them grow and succeed in life.  

She leaves behind two daughters, Cindy Snellgrove (Eric) of Oxford, MS and Sara Shankle (Chris) of Shreveport, LA; one brother, Mike Goree (Johanna Rice) of West Point, MS; 5 grandchildren Erin Goforth (Grant) of Oxford, MS, Emily Whalen (Andrew) of Cleveland, MS, Anna Dixon (Caleb) of Decatur, GA, Wes Snellgrove (Ivy) of Vestavia Hills, AL , and Andrew Shankle of Shreveport, LA and 4 great grandchildren, Molly Cate and Thomas Whalen, and McKay and Lucy Goforth.  

Along with her parents, Paulette was preceded in death by her brother, Eddie Goree.
