Oliver Carothers

Oliver Smylie Carothers, age 95, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 28, 2019 at his home in Batesville, MS. He was the widower of Earlie Mae Cummings Carothers who passed May 9, 2016.

There will be a memorial service at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the home of Brent and Fonda Nickle located at 1370 Pine Lodge Road, Batesville, MS, with a celebration of life to follow.

Oliver was born on January 2, 1924 to the the late Leona Thomas Lewis Carothers and John Boothe Carothers in Batesville, MS. He worked for 40 years with Tennessee Gas and Pipeline, and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed hunting and being outdoors.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his children; Fonda Carothers Nickle (Brent) of Batesville, MS, Cynthia Ann Carothers Roberts (Clay) of Xenia, Ohio and their children; Oliver Cory Bahr, Kristy Lane McDaniel, Cooper Roberts and Cason Roberts.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Earlie Mae Cummings Carothers; and five siblings, James Herron, Sara Boothe Vance, Margaret See "Seeky" Harris, Nancy Ross "Nan" Fontenet, and John Boothe, Jr. "J.B.".
