Nyoka Rivers

Nyoka Rivers, age 73, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.

Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Hosanna Family Worship Center in Pope, MS with the committal service to follow at 4:00 P.M. at Belzoni City Cemetery in Belzoni, MS. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Nyoka was born September 5, 1947 in Isola, MS to the late Raymond and Ollie Mae Smith Rivers. She was the owner of Nyoka's Beauty Shop in Yazoo City for thirty years and eventually retired from the J.C. Penny fine jewelry department. Nyoka was a member of Hosanna Family Worship Center. Upon retirement, she has a love for gardening and oil painting. Nyoka also enjoyed traveling.

Nyoka is survived by her two sons, Brian Burrough of Bentonia, MS, Kelly Rivers Burrough of Florence, AL; two sisters, Debra Jean Rivers Boutwell of Bolton, MS, Geraldine Rivers Ables of Batesville, MS; three brothers, Raymond Tex Rivers of St. Louis, MO, Aalton Oliver Rivers of Vicksburg, MS, Mickey Louis Rivers of Bentonia, MS; five grandchildren, Austin Burrough, Blake Burrough, Faith Burrough, Anna Rivers Burrough, and Garrett Burrough.
