Milton Clyde Pardue, Jr.

Milton Clyde Pardue, Jr., age 66 of Monroe, GA, formerly of Batesville, MS, passed away on August 22, 2019. He was born in Batesville on July 27, 1953 to the late Milton Clyde Pardue, Sr. and the late Mary Kathleen McGlaun Pardue.

Surviving members of his family are several cousins including Judi Garrett and a cluster of close friends both in Georgia and in Mississippi. Two particular Georgia friends and caregivers Kelley Brown and Monica Humbles were counted by Milton as family.

Milton was a 1971 graduate of South Panola High School and was the starting quarterback for the Tigers his Junior and Senior years. He led the 1970-71 Tigers through a 10 game undefeated season and to the Delta Valley Conference championship. Milton was famous for his accuracy with the long ball and the ability to consistently hit Jason Chrestman in stride on a fly route down the sideline. He was a fierce competitor and fun to watch.

Milton attended Ole Miss, studied Psychology and was an avid Rebel. He was active in Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and was a legend in the Ole Miss chapter. He worked for the Transportation Safety Board of MDOT several years and then in 1981, began a new career as the Vice President of Torrence Communications in Brandon, MS. After moving to Georgia in 1994, Milton enjoyed a successful career with Farm Bureau Insurance Company. Milton completed his Farm Bureau career and retired in 2016. After retirement, he made several memorable trips home and was reunited with friends and classmates in Batesville and Ole Miss. Milton was a dog lover and over the course of his life graduated from Basset hounds to Great Danes, raising several champions. Milton was also a music lover and enthusiastically enjoyed genres from the early soul sounds of Mary Wells to the glam rock of David Bowie. Milton was a unique soul. He made his presence known wherever he was. His large presence will be missed but always remembered.

A graveside service will be held at Forrest Memorial Park, 24017 Hwy 6 East, on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS, is in charge. There will be a gathering of classmates and friends to commemorate his life and share Milton stories following the graveside service.
