Mary Catherine Coker Ward, age 88, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020, at her home in Batesville, MS.

An immediate family funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 6, 2020, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow at Lambert Cemetery in Lambert, MS.

Mary was born May 8, 1931 in Quitman County, MS to the late Odell and Vernie Mae Bonner Coker. She was a retired factory worker from Parker-Hannifin in Batesville, MS and a member of Victory Baptist Church in Batesville, MS. Mary was an exquisite housekeeper that enjoyed needle point and cooking for her family during holidays and family gatherings. She thought of her fellow church members as a part of her family.

Mary leaves behind her loving family, which includes, her daughter, Mary A. Ward Pauley of Batesville, MS; three sisters, Joann Godsey of Jackson, MS, Janie Williams of Spokane, WA, Peggy Coker of Clinton, MS; brother, Cecil Coker (Linda) of Batesville, MS; three grandchildren, Cathy Allen (Jimmie, Jr.) of Batesville, MS, Tina Williams (Royce) of Sardis, MS, Ruben Pauley, Jr. (Audra) of Hernando, MS; six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her closest friend, Louise Smith and family friend, Lisa Powell.

Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James Elmer Ward.
