Mary K. Kennedy

Mary Kathleen (Pierce) Kennedy of Collierville, Tennessee, passed away at age 80 on March 5, 2019.  She was the wife of Thomas (Tom) Kennedy.  The couple formerly resided in Batesville, MS, for 37 years.

Born on March 11, 1938, in Portland, Oregon, she was the daughter of Leroy Pierce and Evelyn Cole Pierce.  Mary graduated from Ventura (CA) High School in June 1956.  She joined the Women’s Army Corps in February 1957 serving as a dental assistant while posted in Aberdeen, Maryland.  Tom and Mary were married March 4, 1960, in the Community of Christ Church in Ventura, California.  The family moved from California to Missouri to Mississippi over the years, settling in Batesville, Mississippi, for many years before retiring to Collierville, Tennessee.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Thomas Kennedy; her daughters Antoinette (Toni) Lambert, Wendy Davison, and Jennie Harrison (Terry); her sons, Mark Kennedy (Debbie) and Eric Kennedy (Jean); her brother, Roy John Pierce; and 25 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, and 11 great great-grandchildren.

The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, March 9, at 1:00 for visitation and 2:00 for Memorial Service at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS.
