Mary Janelle Horton

Mary Janelle Doolittle Horton, age 92, of Oakland, MS, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 24, 2019, in Water Valley, MS. She was the widow of the late James Pritchard Horton.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada, MS. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the funeral service.

Janelle was born April 27, 1926 to the late Annie Maxine Fowler and Claude A. Doolittle in Gore Springs, MS. She was a member of the Oakland Methodist Church and was a homemaker during her lifetime. In the fall, Janelle would spend her Friday nights listening to the South Panola football team on the radio. On Saturday’s, she enjoyed watching Ole Miss and Mississippi State’s football and basketball teams play. During her spare time you could find Janelle stitching, sewing, or talking on the phone.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her loving memory include her children, Mary Ann Odom of Pope, MS, and James Walter Horton of Oakland, MS; four grandchildren, Christy Hanes, David Odom (Logan), Heather Horton, and Anna Horton; two great grandchildren, James Brewer and Camille Odom.
