Mary Jane Norwood Avery

Mary Jane Norwood Avery, age 46, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS.

The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M . Wednesday, October 23, 2019, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the family receiving friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. A second visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon prior to the service beginning at 12:00 P.M.

Mary was born August 21, 1973 in Kilmichael, MS to the late William Oris and Christina Tubberville Norwood. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Batesville, MS. Mary drove for BWY Transport as an over the ground transport driver. She had a love for many things that include, automobiles, car shows, swimming and fishing to name a few. Her most cherished memories was spending time with her husband and family while sitting around the fire pit. She enjoyed her "Girl Time" shopping with her daughters and also having her "Mimi Time" with her grandchildren. When Mary was home, she loved spending time in her kitchen, cooking for her family and friends.  While driving across the country, Mary loved watching the many sunrises and sunsets she was able to witness. She and her family spent many nights watching the moon.

Mary's loving and caring memory will be cherished by her husband, Richard Avery of Batesville, MS; two daughters, Christina Lynn Avery Woods (Chance) of Grenada, MS, Amanda Nicole Avery Bailey (Jordon) of Gulfport, MS; son, Matthew Dylan Avery of Batesville, MS; four sisters, Louise Norwood of Indianola, MS, Maggie Norwood of Indianola, MS, Brenda Norwood Williams of Greenwood, MS, Linda Kennedy of Madison, MS; brother, William "Buddy" Norwood of Alva, MS; two grandchildren, Olivia Grace Woods and James Walter Bailey, III.

Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister Martha Crawford.
