Martha Todd Smith Rowsey, age 101, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the Yalobusha County Nursing Home in Water Valley, MS.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rowsey will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 prior to the service. Interment will be held at Pisgah Cemetery.
Martha Todd was born on January 21, 1918 to the late Dave H. Smith and Christine Fisher Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Panola County. She graduated from Courtland High School. During her life, she worked as a seamstress at Big Yank Corporation, Sterling 5 and 10, Panola County School bus driver, Drake and Mangrum Supermarket and a self employed farmer. She enjoyed gardening and quilting. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Rowsey, Sr.; her son, Edward Lee Rowsey, Jr.; sisters, Helen Smith Bevell, Fisher Smith Hubbard, Mary Louise Drake, and Frances E. Stanley.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Smith Rowsey (Joan) of Batesville, Dan Todd Rowsey (Cindy) of Oxford; one daughter, Kay Rowsey Cook (Charlie) of Courtland; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Upchurch Rowsey of Batesville; twelve grandchildren, Becky Lemke (Lee) of Ohio, Edward Keith Rowsey (April) of Texas, Edward Lee Rowsey, III (Natalie) of Pope, Amy Cook Hays (Carlton) of Sardis, Melissa Rowsey Browning (Chuck) of New Albany, Shelley Cook Hudson (Chris) of Courtland, Evelyn Rowsey Worrell (Deke) of Pontotoc, Eric Todd Rowsey (Joy) of Abbeville. She was proud of her eighteen great grandchildren.
