Martha Jo Childs Hall

Martha J Childs Hall, age 88, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023, at her home in Batesville, MS. She was the widow of the late Donald W. “Don” Hall.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Mt. Olivet Global Methodist Church in Batesville, MS with the interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends at the church beginning at 12:00 P.M. prior to the service.

Martha was born December 4, 1935, in Batesville, MS to the late Milton D. and Frances Mills Childs. She was a retired businesswoman and community leader for many years. Martha was an active member of the Mt. Olivet Global Methodist Church and Mt. Olivet Fire Department. Throughout the community, Martha actively participated in the Meals on Wheels and Red Hat Society programs. She was also a former Girls Scout Leader and member of the Birmingham Garden Club. Martha always enjoyed spending time and conversing with her many friends.

Her loving memory and servants’ heart will be cherished by her three daughters, Kathy M. Barber (Mark) of Pensacola, FL, Lisa M. Hartman (Gary) of Batesville, MS, René DeYoung of Olive Branch, MS; son, Don Hall, Jr. (Donna) of Olive Branch, MS; five grandchildren, Joshua Childs Thomason (Cricket), Jennifer Cooper (Preston), Madison Wilson (Jared), Kristin Pitts (Justin), Jamie Parker (Justin) and seven great-grandchildren. Martha also leaves behind her precious fury companions, KK and Chase.

Memorial gifts in Martha’s memory may be sent to the Mt. Olivet Global Methodist Missions Fund or to the Panola County Humane Society.
