Marie Hyland Beard

Marie Hyland Beard, age 82, passed away Sunday morning, January 14, 2024, at her home near Courtland, MS.

DUE TO ONGOING INCLEMENT WEATHER AND POOR ROAD CONDITIONS, ALL SERVICES FOR MRS. BEARD HAVE BEEN CHANGED AS FOLLOWS:

The funeral service will be held Tuesday January 23, 2024 at 2pm at Courtland Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2pm. Interment will follow in Forrest Memorial Park.

Marie was born October 23, 1941 in Panola County, MS to the late Wilbon Leon and Ressie Perkins Hyland. She was a retired factory worker but for over the last 20 years, Marie has been a homemaker who cared for her family. Marie was a faithful member of Courtland Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her yard while caring for her flowers. She also enjoyed bird watching, especially purple martins and hummingbirds. She and her husband were longtime dedicated members of the Batesville Lions Club.

Marie is survived by her loving family, which includes her husband, J.W. Beard of Courtland, MS; two sons, William C. Beard (Donna) of Senatobia, MS, Ricky T. Beard (Brenda) of Batesville, MS; one sister, Joyce Ann Lenhart of Batesville, MS; brother, W.L. Hyland of Oxford, MS; three grandchildren, Dillon Brewer, Erika Brewer Anderson, Amanda Beard Sparks and six great-grandchildren, Kayla Ann, Kaleb, Railyn, Aleigha, Emily and Kyle.

Along with her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her grandson, Johnathan Thomas “J.T.” Beard; two sisters, Barbara Faye Holley, Hazel Little and two brothers, Noel Hyland and C.L. Hyland.
