Macel V. Appleton, Sr.

Macel V. "Apple Jack" Appleton, Sr., age 86, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020, at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford, MS.

Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Monday, March 9, 2020, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis, MS. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M.

Macel was born June 16, 1933 in Sardis, MS to the late Earnest Franklin and Bessie Appleton. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Macel was a retired maintenance worker for several industries in and around Panola County. He had a special love for hunting, fishing, raising horses and camping.

Macel leaves his two sons, Macel V. Appleton, Jr. (Trina) of Pope, MS, Jimmy D. Appleton (Donna) of Pope, MS; sister, Jeannie Appleton Hardin of Nesbit, MS; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Along with his parents, Macel was preceded in death by his wife of his children, Aughty Jean "Jeannie" Dye Appleton; second wife, Betty Green Carr Appleton; son, Jay Appleton and his grandson, Jeremy Tyler Appleton.
