M. John Robinson

M. John Robinson, 85, of Senatobia, MS, passed away Wednesday August 9, 2023 at Wesley Meadows Retirement Community in Hernando, MS.

Mr. Robinson was born June 19, 1938 in Monroe, MI to the late John Marion Robinson and Laura Esther "Peggy" Endsley Robinson. Mr. Robinson earned his Ph.D in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan and was employed for most of his career with Black & Veatch, where he specialized in foreign and domestic Nuclear Power Plants, and for a time was the Partner in Charge of Latin America and the Carribean, for power projects. Prior to Black & Veatch, Mr. Robinson was also a professor at Kansas State University and served as a consultant to the Brazilian nuclear program through the International Atomic Energy Association and the United Nations. While he could have gone by the title "Dr.", he preferred to be known as simply "M John." An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Robinson loved hunting and fishing. In addition to this, he was a silver smith and rock hound, and thoroughly enjoyed searching for, collecting and polishing various rocks, making some pieces into custom silver jewelry. He was a long-time member of the Olathe Gem and Mineral Society of Olathe, KS.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years and the mother of his children, Sonja Louise Wilson Robinson and one brother, Michael Robinson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his four children, Terri Massey (Mike), of Senatobia, MS, Julie Bennett (Christopher), of France, Kris Robinson, of Senatobia, MS, and John Robinson (Dorene), of Madison, MS; one brother, Richard Robinson (Raili), of Florida; and five grandchildren, Gaines Massey, Eric Robinson, Lisa Seanor, Joey Robinson, and Camille Robinson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude's Hospital.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
