Linda Jane Bolen Respess, 73, of Crowder, Mississippi died Sunday evening, June 14, 2020, peacefully in her son’s home surrounded by family and friends after a three-year battle with sarcoma. Linda was the wife of Charles David Respess, whom she married in Crowder on November 7, 1966. She was born December 9, 1946 in Marks, Mississippi, to the late Birl and Ruby Jones Bolen.Linda graduated from Quitman County Schools at Crowder in 1965 where she was a star basketball player and cheerleader. She then graduated from Northwest Mississippi Junior College with a certificate in Cosmetology in 1966. She started her career as a hair stylist at Robbie Tutor-Gee’s hair salon in Crowder in 1966 and established her own salon in 1969. She retired in 2004.
Linda was baptized June 1956 at Powell’s Pond in the Enon community by A.L. Flint and became a member of Enon Baptist Church. She was baptized again in March 1976 by Truman Scarborough and moved her membership to Crowder Baptist Church. She returned her membership to Enon Baptist Church in 2007. Linda was an active church member and served as secretary, bookkeeper, treasurer, clerk, committee chair and member, and beloved Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include two children, Tamara C. Respess (Steve Ebe) of Nashville, Tennessee, and D. Lance Respess of Batesville; two sisters, Carolyn Bolen Toliver of Batesville and Margaret Bolen Darby of Tupelo; and a brother, Kenneth Bolen (Melissa) of Batesville.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Bolen Draper and Helen Bolen Carlisle.
The family will not have funeral services due to the pandemic. Interment will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, Mississippi.
