Lee McDonald Tomlinson

September 28, 1934 — March 20, 2021

Lee McDonald Tomlinson, age 86, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 20, 2021, surrounded by his
family.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 22, 2021, at Clarksdale United Methodist
Church in Clarksdale, MS with the family receiving friends prior to the service beginning at 9:00
A.M. The interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale, MS later in the day.

Lee was born September 28, 1934 in Clarksdale, MS to the late Edwin Phipps and Mattie Louise
Lipscomb Tomlinson. Lee was a graduate of Clarksdale High School and went on to receive a
Bachelor’s Degree from Mississippi State University in Agriculture. While attending MSU, Lee
learned to fly and enjoyed many years flying the friendly skies. Upon graduation from MSU, he
honorably served his country in the United States Army. He also served as the Executive
Director of the Boy Scouts of America and spent many hours mentoring young boys through
scouting activities. His career was mostly spent in the mobile home industry first with Vintage
Homes in Clarksdale and later in Texas. Once he retired, he moved back home to the Clarksdale
area. He was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarksdale, MS and for
the last 22 years he attended Hope Presbyterian Church in Cordova, TN. Lee was active in the
Men’s Group Bible Study, the Real Life, Real God Sunday School Class at Hope Presbyterian, and
went on three mission trips to Pinotepa, Mexico. At the young age of 81, Lee completed a
tandem skydive from an altitude of 14,500 feet with a freefall of 60 seconds at West Tennessee
Skydiving.

Lee’s gentle and caring memory will be cherished by his wife, Terry Taylor Tomlinson of
Germantown, TN; three daughters, Shauna Myers of Clarksdale, MS, Tracy Goforth (Ronnie) of
Batesville, MS, Leslie Maddie (late Bill) of Flower Mound, TX; two step-daughters, Beth Brown
(late Bobby) of Hernando, MS, Donna Bullard (Kenny) of Woodland, MS; three step-sons, Bob
Wharton (Mary Jo) of Memphis, TN, Sam Wharton of Lake Cormorant, MS, Tracy Wharton of
Heber Springs, AR; sister, Martha Jane Howell of Clarksdale, MS; nineteen grandchildren and
twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Along with Lee’s parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Lee McDonald Tomlinson, Jr.
and Edwin Montroy (Troy) Tomlinson, and one sister, Ann Barnett.

Road, Cordova, TN 38018.
