Lance Foster Shipley

May 23, 1984 — January 5, 2019

Lance Shipley, age 34, passed away suddenly, January 5, 2019 at Baptist memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Lance was born May 23, 1984 to Scott Michael Shipley and Jo Elna Skaggs Shipley in Sacramento, CA. Lance worked for ACI Building Systems in Batesville and Oxford Bowling Alley. Lance was a unique man in many different ways. He enjoyed art, making wood burnings, like the ones available in his little shop called Burning Wolf Designs. He enjoyed participating in Larping. Lance loved playing Pokémon Go, where he made many friends along the way, but let’s say he failed to catch them all. His family refers to him as a bit of a goofball, always being cheesy and making them laugh. Family was the most important aspect of his life as Lance always put others in front of himself.

The loving family he leaves behind include his wife, Maegan Staggs Shipley of Oxford; children, Savannah Harlow Shipley and Harrison Wyatt Shipley, both of Oxford; god daughter, Ava Grace Byles of Oxford; step-son, Hayden Michael Staggs of Oxford; son, Killian Garrett Foster Shipley, who is due to come into this world in early February; sisters, Katie Anderson of Idyllwild, CA. and Morgan Shipley of Elk Grove, CA.; his parents, Scott and Jo Elna Shipley of Elk Grove, CA.; and his in-laws, Michael and Donna Staggs of Sardis and Leda and James Delanoix of TX.; brother in law, James Delanoix Jr (Shannon) also of TX.

The family will hold a celebration of life remembering him for the life he lived and accomplishments he made. A time and date will be announced once finalized by the family. Wells Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Lance's daughter wanted to share the following poem she wrote for her father.

"The Burning Wolf"
The wolf may lie still on the ground, its howls no longer ringing through the night air, but it continues to burn brightly. It's flame lighting the way for those who choose to follow the path. The path never finished.
