Oxford, MS- Kevin M. Barnes, age 44, formerly of Batesville, MS, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow in Good Hope Cemetery in Batesville, MS. The family will be receiving friends Monday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Gary Hartman, Howard Tindall, Joseph Aucoin, Tim Wilson, Lee Waddle, and Michael Snider.Kevin was born June 15, 1973 in Batesville, MS to Michael L. and Janice McCown Barnes. He was an HVAC mechanic for Diversified Technologies, Inc., and was a faithful and active member of Community Church in Oxford, MS. Kevin was an avid Ole Miss Rebel fan. When he wasn't working at his daytime job, Kevin was a handyman and a giver of himself to others. He took great pride in being a dedicated and faithful husband, father, and worker. His life evolved around his family, whether it was date nights with his wife, taking his son hunting and fishing, or taking his daughter to concerts. Kevin always made it a priority to spend quality time with his family. Kevin always loved traveling to the mountains and listening to the sounds of rolling waterfalls.In Kevin's brief time here, he leaves a loving legacy to be cherished by his wife of twenty-three years, Kim Gordon Barnes of Oxford, MS; daughter, Katie Barnes of Oxford, MS; son, Chase Barnes of Oxford, MS; mother, Janice McCown Barnes of Batesville, MS; two sisters, Jennifer Barnes Aucoin of Batesville, MS, Amy Barnes of Batesville, MS.Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Michael L. Barnes.
