Kathleen Hays Ray

Kathleen Hays Ray, age 85, passed away Friday morning, June 9, 2017 at Tallahatchie General Nursing Home in Charleston, MS. Ms. Ray is the widow of the late Paul Edward Ray.Funeral services for Mrs. Ray will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS with visitation beginning at 1:00 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forrest Memorial Park. Mr. John Williams will officiate. Kathleen was born in Eupora on October 17, 1931 to the late John S. Hays and Eutell Orr Hays. She moved to the MS Delta and lived in the Delta most of her life. She loved to garden and was proud of her vegetables she grew. Kathleen was always there to help take care of her grandchildren. She loved to fish when she was younger with her late husband, Paul.  Kathleen had a love for country music. Her children were introduced to Hank Williams and Kitty Wells when they were just toddlers.  Those she leaves behind include 2 children, Pat Flemmons of Water Valley, and Jane Williams (Danny) of Coldwater; 3 step-children, Paul Ray of West Point, Helen Murray (Willie) of Branson, MO. and Rachel Williams of Tuscaloosa, AL. ; 21 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and husband Paul, Kathleen is preceded in death by 2 sons, Earl Anderson and Jerry Anderson.Memorial contributions in Kathleen's honor can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN. 38105
