Karen Rene Mathews, age 48, passed away tragically in an auto accident Tuesday afternoon, June 6, 2017, near Sardis, MS.A memorial service for Karen will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Reverend Kevin Crofford will officiate. Karen was born July 24, 1968 to Minnie Heathcock Embrey and the late Cathey Wayne Embrey in West Memphis, AR. Karen was a long time employee of Smith Cleaners in Batesville. She was a dedicated hardworking employee. Karen personality shined, as she always greeted her customers with a smile and kind words. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her. In her spare time, Karen loved the beach and tanning. She was an animal lover and always enjoyed her dogs. Karen liked listening to music. Most of all, Karen cherished her boys and grandbabies. Those she leaves behind to cherish her loving memory include her 3 sons, Jacob Mathews of Batesville, Caleb Mathews of Oxford, and Jeremy Matthews (Mercedes) of Batesville; her mother, Minnie Marie Heathcock Embrey of Batesville; sister, Mileah Johnson of Batesville; brother, Dennis Embrey of Batesville.; 5 grandchildren, Corbin Matthews, Chloe Matthews, Rowan Matthews, Mia Mathews, and Elaina Sawyer.
