Joel Eugene Jones

Bro. Joel Eugene Jones, age 85, passed away Monday afternoon, October 11, 2021 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Shiloh United Methodist Church with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. The interment will follow there at the Church Cemetery.

Bro. Joel was born on September 14, 1936 in Crowder, MS to the late Bickett and Valeria Long Jones. During his lifetime, he was the proud Pastor at Jumpers Chapel Congregational Methodist Church in Water Valley for 32 years. He also worked as the production manager for PlasPros for nearly 20 years and served our country in the U.S. Army. One of his greatest joys in life was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. If you knew Joel, he had a special love for them and his church.   

The family he leaves behind includes his precious wife, Lorene Vaughan Jones of Batesville; daughter, Jenny Jones Sullivant (Scott) of Batesville; son, Jason Jones of Sardis; 6 grandchildren, Anna Camp, Ali Gurley, Parker Jones, Bailey Sullivant, Payton Jones, and Grace Jones; 12 great grandchildren, Aiden Sullivant, Caden Camp, Everette Camp, Holden Camp, Riley Mills Camp, Adelyn Gurley, Avery Gurley, Waverly Gurley, Iyla Jones, Addy Jones, Ivy Jones, and Dax Jones.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Angie Jones Ellis and one brother, James Jones.

Bro. Joel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, Pastor, and a friend to many.
