Joe McGehee

Joe McGehee, age 66, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021 at his home in Pope, MS.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Joe's life will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS. 

Joe was born on September 25, 1955 to the late Joe Sanders McGehee, Sr. and Evelyn Roberson McGehee in Memphis, TN. He worked hard as a millwright by trade and stayed on the road often while working. Joe also worked at ACI Building Systems for 25 years and at Crown Cork and Seal. When he was not working, he loved to spend time with his precious grandchildren. Joe also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming.

The family he leaves behind includes his wife, Peggy Mills McGehee of Pope; his three daughters, Emily McGehee Gaines (Preston) of Courtland, Erika McGehee Jaco (Austin) of Batesville, and Melissa McGehee of Memphis; one brother, Jake McGehee (Claudette) of Batesville; one sister, Michele McGehee of Batesville; 6 grandchildren, Clayton, Joseph, Avery, Jason, Jacob, and Julianna; and 2 great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, James “Jimmy” McGehee.
