Jimmy Neal Long, age 74, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 10, 2017, at his home in Como, MS. He is the husband of Kay Collier Long of Como. Funeral services for Mr. Long will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville MS with visitation beginning at 1:00. Interment will at Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Rick Geeslin will officiate. Jimmy was born October 20, 1942 to the late Kendrick Long and Inez Leech Long in Memphis, TN. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a truck driver during his lifetime. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Jimmy was a member of Lifepoint Church in Senatobia, he was a Reserve Memphis Police Officer, he also served with Jail Ministry. Those he leaves behind to continue his legacy include his loving wife; Kay Collier Long of Como, his son; Jimmy Neal Long, Jr., of Corinth, step daughter; Cindy Morehead (Brian) of Texarkana AR., step sons; Gary May (Anne) of Senatobia, and Mike Holcombe of Dallas, TX., 6 grandchildren, one sister; Shirley Atwell (Geoff) of Memphis, TN., and one nephew; Josh Atwell of Memphis, TN. Memorial in Jimmy's honor may be made to Lifepoint Church, 822 Scott St., Senatobia, MS 38668.
