Jimmy H. Herron

September 30, 1937 — January 17, 2018

Jimmy Hartzell Herron, age 80, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 17, 2018, at Sardis Nursing Home. Jimmy is the widower of Betty Seale Herron. 

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Antioch Cemetery near Courtland, MS. Dr. Doug Sullivan-Gonzalez and Mr. Michael Bates will officiate the service. Wells Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. 

Jimmy was born September 30, 1937 to the late Willie Alvin Herron and Virginia Hartzell Herron in Courtland, MS. Jimmy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He faithfully served the Independence Presbyterian Church as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, choir member, Elder, Clerk of the Session from 1970 - 2014 and a Trustee. Jimmy was a farmer during his lifetime. He adored his wife Betty and spending time with his family. In his later years, Jimmy found joy in watching his grandchildren play sports. 

His loving memory will be cherished by his family which include his two daughters, Amy Herron McMinn (Stevie) of Courtland, MS, Kim Herron Holt (John) of Courtland, MS; son, Jim W. Herron (Heather) of Courtland, MS; sister, Betty Hudson of Batesville; six grandchildren, Meagan McMinn, Jim Tyler Dalrymple (Heather), John Cody Dalrymple, Meri Harbor Herron, Holt Herron, Hayes Herron and two great-grandsons, Carder Dalrymple, and Jamison Dalrymple. 

Memorial contribution may be sent to Antioch Cemetery or Independence Presbyterian Church.
