Jimmy Dale Bailey, age 72, passed away Tuesday morning, April 23, 2024 surrounded by his family at his home in Courtland, MS.

A memorial service to celebrate Jimmy Dale's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. The inurnment will follow the service at Forrest Memorial Park. 

Jimmy Dale was born on June 12, 1951 to the late James Walter Bailey, Jr. and Jackie Bland Bailey in Marks, MS. He honorably served our country in the United States Marine Corp for two years with his highest rank as a Corporal E-4. Jimmy was a life-long member of the Locke Station Baptist Church and was formerly employed at Panola Mills and at Crown Cork & Seal.

Jimmy Dale loved to be outside, whether he was riding horses, tending to his cows, going fishing, or hunting out in the woods. When he was not outside, he could be found watching Western movies, all the John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies were his favorite. Jimmy Dale was happiest when he was with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a special love for them all.

The family left behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Betty McCarty Bailey of Courtland, MS; his three children, April Bailey Sims (Kevin) of Batesville, MS, Brandi Darnell Bailey of Courtland, MS, and Shannon Dale Bailey of Courtland, MS; two brothers, Randy Lee Bailey of Courtland, MS, and Reggie Don Bailey of Florida; 8 grandchildren, Grayson Sims Anderson, Jackson Sims, Jordan Bailey, Gavin Towles, Courtney Bailey, Zach Brownlee, Karly Rudd, and Khloe Bailey; and 7 great grandchildren, Ryleigh Ray Anderson, Rowdy Bates Anderson, James Walter Bailey, III, Natalie Jane Bailey, Christian Lee Mills, Remi Grace Hall, and Cameron Chess Towles.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James Roy Bailey, and infant brother, Gary Dale Bailey.
