Jimmie Lee Barbee

Jimmie L. Barbee, age 73, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 11, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North MS in Oxford, MS.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with the interment to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening, April 13, 2019, at Wells Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Sunday at the church.

Jimmie was born June 5, 1945 in Batesville, MS to the late J.O. and Martha Lewellen Barbee. He was an active and longtime member of Mt. Olivet Methodist Church. Jimmie was a very hard working and dedicated family man who provided for his family. He worked in the forestry industry and also worked construction at times. When Jimmie wasn’t working, he enjoyed riding four-wheelers and going to the hunting camp. Jimmie greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids, and attending as many of their events as he could.

Jimmie’s legacy will live on through his wife, Jo Jones Barbee of Batesville, MS; two sons, James Ray Barbee and wife, Kimberly, of Batesville, MS, Jeremy Barbee and wife, Nikki, of Olive Branch, MS; sister, Sherry Barbee Anderson and her husband, Bobby, of Batesville, MS; brother, Bobby Joe Barbee, and wife Pam, of Batesville, MS; five grandchildren, Cassi Barbee (B.J.), Garner Barbee, Lauren Grace Barbee, Will Barbee and Bradley Barbee.
