Jerry Lamar Melton, Sr.

Jerry Lamar “Bones” Melton, Sr., age 67, passed away Wednesday April 3, 2019 in Courtland, MS.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 6, 2019, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, MS. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Derrick Simmons will be officiating the service.

Jerry was born October 14, 1951 to the late Bertha Louise Bynum and Otis C. Melton in Marks, MS. He worked as a truck driver during his lifetime. In his spare time he enjoyed grilling and being with his friends, and watching TV, especially western shows and movies.

Those he leaves behind include his children, Lisa Melton Johnson (Jay) of Batesville, MS, Cody Van Melton (Jamie) of Sardis, MS, and Casey Clayton Melton of Olive Branch, MS; two sisters, Judy Melton Ray (Elbert) of Courtland, MS, and Barbara Melton Kennedy of Lebanon, MO; five grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Franklin Melton, and one son, Jerry Lamar Melton, Jr.
