Jeannie was born on April 25, 1928 to the late James Monroe Laughlin and Cynthia Pearl Lane Laughlin in Selmer, TN. Jeannie touched the lives of so many for God’s glory. She was an active member of Peach Creek Baptist Church and faithfully taught Sunday School for 50 years. She loved the study of prophecy and was a master of biblical history. She was a guide and resource for many pastors and was always eager to share her knowledge. She cherished her family and tirelessly gave her time to raising children, and helping build the family BBQ business. She especially enjoyed the fun-filled sister weekends and family gatherings filled with singing and laughter.
The loving family she leaves behind to cherish her precious memory includes her husband of 69 years, James W. Fitts; 5 children, Deborah Robinson (Billy) of Sardis, Larry Fitts (Rena) of Stanton, TN, Dan Fitts (Leigh Ann) of Rogers, AR, Walt Fitts (Angie) of Atlanta, GA, and Paxton Fitts (Lacey) of Hernando; sisters, Rachel Powell (Wayne) of Bartlett, TN, and Thelma Bell of Henderson, TN; brother, Hayes Laughlin of Bartlett, TN; 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She is now reunited with 4 sisters, 2 brothers, and 2 grandchildren that preceded her in death.
We will all miss her smile, wisdom, and love, but know she fully trusted in Jesus as Lord and Savior, and we rejoice knowing that she is no longer in pain and walking with Jesus now.
In lieu of flowers, Jeannie wanted contributions made to Gideons International (gideons.org) so that others could read and know the Good News she loved so much.
