Jean Towles

Jean Bass Towles, age 92, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 at her home in Batesville, MS. She was the widow of Mr. Spencer Towles. 

The family and friends will gather for a 10:00 A.M. graveside service Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, MS.

Jean was born July 14, 1929 in Corinth, MS to the late Hubbard and Hazel Bingham Bass. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Batesville, MS. Jean was a true caregiver for her family, whether it was cooking, raising her vegetable garden, sewing or crocheting, she always took care of them. In her down time, Jean loved reading a good book and fishing. One could characterize her as a 1940's women.

Jean's caring memory will be cherished by her family, which includes her daughter, Barbara Shepherd of Tucson, AZ; sister, Sonny Coffee (Buddy) of Oxford, MS; six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Hatcher; son, Joe Towles; sister, Lottie Whiten and her brother, Edward Bass.
