Janet was born June 22, 1944 to the late Jessie Loys Marberry and the late Marie Lipsey Marberry in Batesville, MS. She grew up in Memphis, TN and graduated from Southside High School in 1962. In December of 1966 Janet married the love of her life, Gary Dellinger, and they celebrated 53 years of marriage together. They moved their young family to Sardis in 1978 after purchasing Gary’s Big Star, and they continued to serve the community until 1986. Once they ended their career the grocery store business Janet worked various other jobs which included working as a pharmacy technician at North Panola Hospital and teacher’s assistant at Como Middle School Alternative Program. In 1998 after the birth of her first grandchild she retired from working to start her new life as a grandmother. Janet had many roles in her life, but none was more precious than the role of being “Nanny” to Wes and Malyn. She loved nothing more than her family, and she always made sure they knew how loved they were. Her favorite times with them included many trips to the beach, enjoying warm sunny days by the pool, and having margaritas at her favorite Mexican restaurant. Janet also enjoyed coloring and was even known to frame some of her favorites. She was a passionate animal lover and dearly loved her dog Sunni along with her six grand dogs. She loved with all her heart and laughed often; something her family will miss always.
Janet was a member of the Sardis United Methodist Church in Sardis, MS.
The loving family she leaves behind include her husband of 53 years, Gary Dellinger, of Sardis; daughters Teresa Dellinger Turman (Randy) and Stacey Dellinger Davis of Sardis; sisters Patsy Stewart of Oakland, TN, Sue Lewis (Stew) of Arnold, MD; Carol Grehan (Johnny) of Bartlett, TN; Marilyn Weaver (Lonnie) of Oxford, MS; Bobbie Russell of Olive Branch, MS; and her grandchildren Wesley Davis and Malyn Davis of Sardis.
She was preceded in death by a special uncle, Raymond Speer, of Sardis.
Janet’s family requests that memorial gifts go to the Sardis United Methodist Church, Arkabutla Rescue Rehabilitation & Foster, and Tunica Humane Society.
