James "Johnny" Roberson, age 86, of Marks, passed away February 6, 2018 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo.
Funeral services for Mr. Roberson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Faith Baptist Church in Lambert. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Lambert Cemetery with Military Honors. Rev. John Roberson will officiate the service.
Johnny was born July 11, 1931 to the late John Boyd Roberson and Irene Roy Roberson in Doddsville. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Johnny was the owner of Roberson's Produce and Bait Shop in Marks, serving his town for 25 years. He also the owner of Roberson's Pecans. In his spare time he loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Roberson was a member of Shining Light Baptist Church in Starkville.
The family he leaves behind to cherish his precious memory include his children, Bonnie Mitchell (Tommy) of Lambert, Penny Jennings (Larry) of Starkville, Lisa Funderburk (Carl) of Union City, TN, David Pruett (Deb) of Union City, TN, Jamie Roberson (Hollie) of Batesville, John Roberson (Sherri) of Clinton, IL., his siblings; Shirley Russell (Bill) of Calhoun City, Linda Waddell (Jessie) of Madison, Lynn Morrison (Terry) of Marks, Betty Hannon (Neal) of Terry, Gene Roberson of Charleston, Raymond Roberson (Ruby) of Lambert, Benny Roberson (Pat) of Starkville, Keith Roberson (Lillie) of Shannon, Kenny Roberson (Judy) of Blue Mountain, and Danny Roberson of Lambert; 24 Grandchildren, 43 Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louise Roberson; one son, Shannon Todd; and two brothers, Floyd Roberson and Tommy Roberson.
