James Harold Purser, Sr.

Mr. James Harold Purser, Sr. passed away at his home in Southaven on September 13, 2017. Funeral services for Mr. Purser will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. Visitation will begin at 9:00 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Black Jack Cemetery. Bro. Robert Floyd Massey will officiate.  Those honored to be pallbearers include Aaron Casey, Elijah Purser, Levi Purser, Wyatt Purser, Mike Clements, and Seth Wilson.James was born April 19, 1935 to the late R.T. Purser and Bessie Ruth Bevell Purser in Batesville, MS. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the late 50's. James was a retired account manager of Coca Cola Company.  In his spare time, James had many hobbies. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He loved John Wayne and watching old Western movies. In his younger days, James enjoyed playing High School baseball and basketball. Those he leaves behind include his 2 children; Julia Faye Purser of Southaven,  and James H. "Jim" Purser, Jr. of Senatobia, 1 brother; Ralph T. Purser of Southaven, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by 1 daughter; Jamie Ann Purser, 1 granddaughter; Amanda Purser, and 1 sister; Webbie Corrine Purser.
