James Dean Joiner, 67, passed away Sunday January 21, 2024 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. 

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville with visitation beginning at 11:00 prior to the service.

James was born December 31, 1956 in Batesville, MS to the late James Earl Joiner and Barbra Alice Nail. He worked as a truck driver with Marten Trucking and MDOT. James and his wife Marjorie enjoyed traveling when they were able to and could. He loved to crappie fish. Family was important to James. He simply adored his only granddaughter, Janey Grace.

The family he leaves behind to cherish his memory includes his loving wife of 45 years, Margie Buckley Joiner of Pope; son, Jamie Joiner (Lacey) of Pope; sisters, Ryná Lauderdale Smith (Mike) of Batesville, Windy Lauderdale Jenkins-Ramirez of Batesville, Mandy Lauderdale Tharp (the late Phil) of New Albany, Julie Baugh (Jeb) of Shreveport, LA.; brother, Curtis Lauderdale (Evelyn) of Courtland; sister-in-law, Teresa Fultz of Springfield, MO.; one granddaughter, Janey Grace Joiner.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Tony Fultz, and David Joiner.

Memorials in Mr. Joiner’s honor may be made to Lebonheur Children’s Research Hospital.
