James Robert Hood

James Robert Hood, age 78, passed away Tuesday night, October 22, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, October 25, 2019, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow at Memorial Gardens in Clarksdale, MS. The family will begin receiving friends one hour prior to the service.

James was born September 19, 1941 to the late James Cassie and Essie D. Glover Hood in Sledge, MS. During his lifetime he worked a farmer and as a maintenance supervisor at Bunge Corporation in Marks, MS. He also honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. When James was not farming, he enjoyed traveling and taking care of his two beloved dogs.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his two children, Cynthia Jones (Keith) of Sardis, MS, and Thomas Hood of Abbeville, MS; one sister, Linda Trusty of Lambert, MS; 4 grandchildren, Amanda Hood of Clarksdale, MS, Jamie Jones (Jessica) of Batesville, MS, Emily Jones (Jackson Jarrell) of Batesville, and Heather Drewrey (Jake) of Nashville, TN; and 3 great grandchildren, Alyssa Robinson, Callie Ford, and Presley Jones.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Martha G. Hood.
