Mr. James D. Hicks, formerly of Grenada, passed away at the age of 62 on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.

Funeral services for Mr. James will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow at Holcomb Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.

James was born on October 25, 1958 to the late Virgil Leon and Etta Virginia Edwards Hicks in Clarksdale, MS. After moving here to the Batesville area, he and his wife, Vickie, attended the New Hope Church of God. He was a former lead glazier for Binswanger Glass out of Memphis, TN. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, watching wildlife, woodworking, watching old westerns on television, and playing his guitar. He was a man of faith who enjoyed going to church, and also had a special love for his puppy, “Buddy”.

The family left behind to cherish his precious memory include his wife, Vickie Lott Hicks of Courtland, MS; four children, Derrick Leon Hicks of Courtland, MS, James Patrick Hicks of Memphis, TN, Nathan Noble (Karen) of Dallas, TX, and Jennifer Darby (Michael) of Batesville, MS; one sister, Rose Pilkington (Earl) of Mayo, FL; one sister-in-law, Lou Hicks of Grenada, MS; and 5 grandchildren, Collins Michael Darby, Hailey Noel Hicks, Dalton Patrick Hicks, Brianna Lynn Hicks, and Jamie Danielle Hicks.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Benny Hicks and Larry Hicks.
