James Belk Griffin, Sr., age 82, passed away at Panola Medical Center in Batesville this morning, May 29, 2019.
James was born June 3, 1936 to the late Geraldine Belk and Clyde Edward Griffin in Calhoun, MS. During his lifetime he was self-employed and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. James loved to build birdhouses, along with other carpentry work, fishing, and going out on the lake. He also enjoyed to go camping in his Army tent and spending time outside. He was a prankster and always had a good sense of humor. James and his wife, Helen, attended Hebron Baptist Church.
Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Helen Griffin of Sardis, MS; three sons, Michael Griffin (Donna) of Coldwater, MS, Ronald Griffin (Christy) of Sardis, MS, and Donald Griffin (Renee) also of Sardis, MS; two sisters, Virgie Flowers of Clarksdale, MS, and Betty Frazer of Batesville, MS; 4 grandchildren, Anthony Griffin, Nathan Griffin, Nicholas Griffin, and Dean Griffin; 1 great grandson, Michael Griffin; 5 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great grandchildren.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by one son, James Belk Griffin, Jr.; one grandson, Bryan Griffin; one step-great grandson, Dylan Gallagher; and two brothers, Clyde and Virgil Griffin.
The family will be having a celebration of life at the home of Helen Griffin at a later date.
